An 8-year-old in Iberia Parish received quite the surprise on her birthday.

Chloe Howard of Grand Marais was in her front yard taking birthday pictures when sirens began blaring down her street. The sounds of a firetruck from the Grand Marais Volunteer Fire Department were not headed to an emergency but were for her.

As a surprise birthday gift, the volunteer fire department and a parade of other vehicles rolled by Howard's front yard waving and handing her gifts.

With the current coronavirus pandemic social distancing has left large gatherings out of the question. Chloe had seen other videos of children and the quarantine parades and wanted one of her own. Her family and the community made it happen.

Howard's family says the moment is a special one, her 8th birthday being the first without her mother who passed several months ago after a battle with cancer.

A happy birthday sign and a sign featuring a picture of her mother were on display outside.

Chloe's reaction to the parade says it all and her family is grateful the community came together while still being apart.

"What a way to make the best out of this situation!"

Happy Birthday , Chloe!
