16th JDC announces guidance for misdemeanor, traffic hearings

NEW IBERIA, La. — The 16th Judicial District Court, which covers Iberia Parish, announced on Monday new guidance for misdemeanor arraignments and traffic court.

According to 16th JDC Judge Suzanne de Mahy, if a defendant has been served with a misdemeanor arraignment notice in Iberia Parish for 9 a.m. on June 18, they are asked to call 337-394-2216 extension 2611 and speak with a court clerk to reschedule and ask any questions they may have.

If a defendant received a notice to appear at a different time, then they should not show up more than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time.

If a defendant has received a traffic ticket or summons in Iberia Parish for 9 a.m. on June 18, they they need to appear at the Iberia Parish Courthouse and go to the criminal department of the clerk's office on the first floor between 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on June 18 for further instructions.
