BATON ROUGE, La. — A Louisiana House committee approved a revised congressional district map Thursday that would eliminate one of the state’s two majority-Democratic districts.

The House and Governmental Affairs Committee approved the amended proposal in a 10-7 party-line vote after a lengthy hearing.

The revised map maintains five Republican districts and one Democratic district.

The proposal now heads to the Louisiana House floor for debate and a full vote next week.
