LAFAYETTE, La. - The annual Health & Fitness EXPO 2020 was held Saturday at the Northside Mall.

The goal of this year's event is to continue to bring awareness to preventative care and civic engagement, according to event organizers.

Walgreen's administered free flu shots while local civic-based community organizations assisted those 18 and over with voter registration. Also, there was help on hand to assist formerly incarcerated individuals to register.

Acadiana Black Nurses Association, 100 Black Men, VisionFit and State Representative Vincent Pierre attended the event.

"If you have your flu shot that will prevent you from having the flu therefore if you come down with another illness so as the COVID we will be able to concentrate in giving you the proper therapy for the COVID so if you get your flu shot you eliminate an area of confusion." said Ernest Kinchen, Medical Doctor.
