Now that masks are a requirement across the state some have raised questions like will this cause breathing issues or be bad for their health?
We went to Park Place Hospital at Our Lady of Lourdes to do some tests on a blood oxygen monitor to see how oxygen levels are impacted by different kinds of masks.

"An ideal oxygen level in your blood is anywhere between 94% to 100%," says Registered Nurse Naomi Angelle. With this in mind, we set up an experiment testing her blood oxygen levels wearing a surgical mask, a cloth homemade mask and no mask at all.

"First we put on my surgical mask that I wear all day. My oxygen level was 98, 99 percent out of 100. So that's good. anything above 94 is good. Then I tried on a cloth mask. same thing 98% to 99% out of 100%. Then we tried it with no mask and it stayed the same, 98 or 99 percent," says Angelle.

As someone who wears a mask all day most days, Nurse Naomi was the perfect expert to answer our next question: Is it harmful to re-cycle your own air inside the mask?

"In the or we wear the masks all the time all day. Sometimes we're in surgery for hours at a time and that has never been a problem for us so that is definitely a myth and not true," she says.
