Julia Lopez is a Spanish immersion Pre-K teacher at Charles Burke Elementary.
Lopez has been teaching for 15 years in Lafayette and has been nominated 6 times but this is her first time being a LEF finalist.
Working with such young children she knows the importance to set a good foundation for her students.
To help make things easier on the students Lopez has a fun and engaging teaching style.
She says "every time I'm thinking what can I do depending on the unit for them to be very active."
And to make the lessons new and exciting for her students Lopez changes out the different learning centers every month.
She gets the biggest joy in seeing her students grow and learn throughout the year saying "it's very rewarding for me when I start a school year with a young student and they finish ready for kindergarten."
Winners of the LEF awards will be announced Wednesday night at 7 PM at the Heymann Center.
If you would like to attend the cost is $5 for students and teachers while it's $10 for everyone else.
