EVANGELINE PARISH — A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash on La Hwy 10 in Evangeline Parish.

Louisiana State Police say that 39-year-old Able Barlow, Jr. of Ville Platte was killed on La Hwy 10 near Crimson Lane, just outside of Ville Platte. That crash happened around 5:00 pm on Monday.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Barlow was riding his motorcycle southbound on LA Hwy 10. Another driver, was headed eastbound on Crimson Lane. Troopers say that driver of the second vehicle failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by Barlow's motorcycle as it entered the intersection.

Despite the fact that he was wearing a DOT approved safety helmet, Barlow received fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle and their passenger were properly restrained and were uninjured. Impairment is not suspected on the part of either driver.

This crash remains under investigation.
