A Mamou teen was killed Wednesday morning in Evangeline Parish following a single vehicle crash on LA Hwy 95 near Comfort Lane.
State Police Troop I says they began investigating a crash shortly after 2:00 am on Wednesday, October 2 on LA Hwy 95. The crash took the life of 17-year-old Matthew Kilbarger of Mamou.
Troopers say Kilbarger was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van northbound on LA Hwy 95 when his vehicle ran off the roadway while approaching a left hand curve. Upon exiting the roadway, the vehicle overturned several times.
Kilbarger, who troopers say was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was partially ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner's Office.
Impairment is unknown at this time. A toxicology sample was taken for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
