Evangeline Parish deputies are asking for assistance in locating a suspect wanted in the theft of an ATV.

The Sheriff's Office says that on Sunday, August 18, deputies were called to the 1000 block of Shorty Lane in Mamou, LA.

The owner of the residence had returned home from being out of town to discover their red 2007 Honda Rancher 420 missing. The Rancher was said to have been missing since Friday August 16 and was later recovered by the end of that day.

After tips from the public, a Warrant of Arrest on 20-year-old Damien M Williams “Pookie” was been issued in this case. That warrant is for Theft of a Motor Vehicle (ATV) and Criminal Trespassing.

The Evangline Parish Sheriff's Office is now seeking assistance from the public in locating Williams. He is said to frequent both Mamou and Ville Platte areas.

If anyone has any information or comes into contact with Damien M Williams “Pookie” is asked to contact the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 337-363-2161. All callers will remain anonymous.

According to law enforcement, Williams also have active warrants for Simple Battery and Resisting an Officer.
