The city of Erath held its annual Fourth of July events today.
The main event is the water fight that the Erath Fire Department holds every year. Fire departments from around Vermilion Parish faced off to see who would take home the big prize.
This year, the Erath Fire Department took home that prize. However, the win isn't what the festivities are all about.
One firefighter said that "every year, there's more and more people that come to watch us."
Leblanc Fire Chief Tommy Menard said that, "Erath is a very family based community."
The event includes more than the water fights, however.
Little Miss Fourth of July Bailey Morgan invites everyone out to the fair and to enjoy "all the yummy food."
The Erath Independence Day festivities are some of the biggest in the state.
Today's event ends with a firework display at 9:00 and a band playing until 10:30.
