Voters in Vermilion Parish voted for a sales tax that will fund pay raises for full-time City of Abbeville employees.

 Shall the City of Abbeville, State of Louisiana (the “City”), under the provisions of the constitution and other statutory authority, be authorized to levy and collect a tax of 1/2 of one percent (0.5%) (the “Tax”) ($1,400,000.00 is expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year) in perpetuity, beginning October 1, 2019, upon the sales at retail, the use, the lease or rental, the consumption, and the storage for use or consumption of tangible personal property, and on sales of services in the City, all as defined by law, with the proceeds of the Tax (after paying the reasonable and necessary costs and expenses of collecting and administering the Tax) to be dedicated as follows: to provide sustainable raises for the City’s fulltime employees, as determined by the City, in the manner provided by law?

Voters in the parish also voted to renew a millage that will go toward maintenance and operation of the Bayou Teche and Vermilion River.

Shall the Teche-Vermilion Fresh Water District of the State of Louisiana (the “District”), levy a one and one-half (1.5) mills tax on all the property subject to taxation within said District (an estimated $5,600,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2021 and ending with the year 2030, for the purpose of constructing, establishing, extending, maintaining, operating and protecting a fresh water supply and abating pollution in Bayou Teche and the Vermilion River within the said District, title to which public works shall be in the public?
