The City of Jeanerette has elected a new mayor.
Carol “Bro” Bourgeois, Jr. beat out Aquicline Rener Arnold and current Mayor Aprill Foulcard, all Democrats.
Bourgeois received 55% of the votes. Arnold received 27% of the votes, leaving Mayor Foulcard with 19% of the votes.
Foulcard’s time in office was riddled in controversy. Most recently, an investigative audit revealed last October possible violations of state law.
Louis Lancon, no party affiliation, surpassed Kenneth J. Kern, Republican, with 83% of the votes for Ward 4 Alderman.
