The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the August 15 Municipal General Election is Tuesday, August 11 at 4:30 pm.
The Secretary of State's Office says that 38 parishes have parishwide and/ or limited jurisdiction propositions.
Those parishes include: Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bossier, Calcasieu, Catahoula, Claiborne, Franklin, Grant, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson Davis, Lafourche, LaSalle, Lincoln, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Union, Vermilion, Washington, Webster, and West Baton Rouge. 6 parishes have a run-off and parishwide/local proposition elections, including: Concordia, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Natchitoches, Ouachita, and St. Tammany. 3 parishes have run-off elections only, including: East Feliciana, Evangeline, and Orleans.
Voters who have requested an absentee ballot but have not yet received one can check on the status of their ballot by visiting voterportal.sos.la.gov, and filling out the appropriate voter information and clicking "Check Absentee Ballot Status."
Absentee ballot requests are currently being processed by parish registrar of voters.
The deadline to return a completed ballot is 4:30 pm on Friday, August 14. Completed ballots can be returned to the parish registrar of voters and can be returned by the voter or a voter’s immediate family member.
Voters unable to meet an absentee ballot deadline can still vote in-person on election day.
