Ville Platte High School held virtual commencement ceremonies Thursday afternoon.

Due to restrictions caused by the coronavirus outbreak, the modified ceremony consisted of a parade with all graduates, which ended at the VPHS gym. Graduates were able to walk inside the gym with their two guests to receive their diploma.

Each graduate and guest was required to wear a mask. For those who could not attend, the ceremony was streamed live on VPHS' Facebook page. You can watch the full ceremony below.

Ville Platte High is the second in Evangeline Parish to hold their virtual ceremony. Pine Prairie held commencement Wednesday evening, while Mamou and Basile High will hold theirs Friday at 6 p.m.

Superintendent Darwan Lazard and staff worked with each school to plan the virtual ceremonies.
