From jingle bells to sparkling trees, there is so much to be excited about even 5 months away from the most wonderful time of the year.
"In the midst of everything that's going on right now it's nice to have your focus on something so positive and proactive and something to be excited about" says Ellie Keefe with District South Real Estate, who will participate in Downtown Lafayette's Merry and Bright celebration for the second year.
Downtown is putting the focus on Christmas in July, offering early bird discounts for those who sign up to sponsor some festive decor or enter the Christmas Tree Extravaganza.
"Along Jefferson through the month of December we have these beautiful wreaths that hang and we'll put your name next to it. We also have cypress tree wrap sponsorships. If you drove or walked downtown last year you would have noticed cypress trees wrapped in red. We're hoping to do that again and add some lights," says Maureen Dugas Foster with Downtown Lafayette Unlimited.
The team at District South Real Estate says after all the fun they had last year, they couldn't sign up fast enough for 2020, and if you plan to participate in the Christmas Tree Extravaganza, watch out! They say they're in it to win it.
"We got beat! We got beat by other people. There were some super creative people out there, they really brought their a game. But we're going to beat them this year somehow," says Keefe.
