Crowley Police have arrested a local man and booked him in connection with a car accident that injured two people.

Raymond Dell Tucker III, 39, was booked with two counts attempted negligent homicide, booking records show.

The incident happened Saturday night on Oddfellows Road, police say. They were called to the 300 block to investigate a car on fire.

Firefighters were putting out the fire, and officers were told that three people in the car - a man, a woman and a three-year-old, had been taken to Acadia General Hospital.

Witnesses told officers that the car left the road at a high rate of speed, traveled into a ditch and hit a utility pole.

When officers went to the hospital, they learned the child had a head injury. The woman told police she was driving and she and Tucker got into an argument. She said Tucker grabbed the steering wheel and pulled it to the right, sending the vehicle off the road and into the pole.

After Tucker was treated and released at the hospital, he was questioned at the Crowley Police Department and allegedly admitted that what the woman told police was true.

The child had a concussion, a laceration to his mouth and is being observed by his doctors, police said.
