UPDATE: A Caldwell Parish police chief has been booked on an additional charge by State Police.

A couple of weeks ago, troopers booked Grayson Police Chief Mitch Bratton with Malfeasance in Office and Obstruction of Justice.

Earlier this afternoon, Troopers arrested and booked Bratton with an additional charge of felony theft. He was booked into the Caldwell Parish Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, troopers say.

Back on June 4, troopers told us that the LSP Criminal Investigations Division (CID) began an investigation into the Grayson Police Department following a complaint of missing seized currency.

Troopers allege that Bratton seized $2,500 and $1,150 on two separate cases. The seized currency could not be accounted for and was never logged as evidence. Investigators allege that Bratton had intentionally concealed the missing currency.

Bratton was booked with two counts of Obstruction of Justice and one count of Malfeasance in Office.
