A Shreveport woman was arrested Tuesday after State Police say they found she intentionally injured her child during a bus crash in order to collect insurance money.

38-year-old Diedra Lee was arrested Tuesday, August 6, following an investigation into the crash and possible insurance fraud.

State Police say they received a criminal referral to investigate Lee after she attempted to gain payments for bodily injuries for herself and her 23-month-old child. Lee allegedly claimed those injuries were received when the City of Shreveport bus they were riding in was involved in a crash.

According to Troopers, An investigation into Lee's claims revealed that she intentionally caused her child's head to strike the back portion of the seat in front of the child. Investigators say that Lee knowingly presented false information in an attempt to defraud an insurance company.

A warrant was issued for Lee's arrest on July 26.

Lee was located and arrested on Tuesday. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for cruelty to a juvenile and two counts of insurance fraud.
