State Police are investigating a fatal shooting involving an off-duty Livingston Parish Sheriff's deputy.
The incident happened today at about 1 a.m., when an armed man showed up at the deputy's house, troopers say. The deputy was off-duty at the time. There was a fight, and both men fired their weapons, troopers say.
The deputy was wounded and transported to a hospital. The other man was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers say.
The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation was contacted to investigate and gather all facts surrounding the incident. Louisiana State Police Troop A is assisting in the investigation.
