Until further notice, SLEMCO is focusing its operations and efforts entirely on power restoration following the arrival of Hurricane Delta this evening.

The company's billing lobby will close at noon to the public and all other regular services and activities have been suspended.

Several hundred power line workers are already on-site and more are staged just outside the storm’s path, waiting to move in to SLEMCO’s service area as soon as the winds die down. Together with SLEMCO employees, they will restore power and repair what is expected to be major damage from Hurricane Delta.

Customers should be prepared to go without power for an extended period of time. Outages can be reported by calling 1-888-275-3626. Customers can also login to their SmartHub accounts to report an outage.

All downed power lines should be reported to SLEMCO and considered energized and extremely dangerous.

Generators should not be wired to power an entire home unless specialized equipment is installed by professional electricians. Failure to install double-throw switches can backfeed the line and injure or kill powerline workers. Generators should not be used within 20 feet of your home to avoid a dangerous carbon monoxide gas buildup.

SLEMCO customers can follow updates on the company’s website and Facebook page.
