AVONDALE, La. (AP) - Authorities said a man killed his girlfriend in front of Louisiana deputies, prompting them to shoot and kill him.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto said deputies found the couple arguing outside their home around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Lopinto said deputies saw the man grab the woman, hold a gun to her neck and shot her. Deputies returned fire, shooting the man. Both the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopinto said deputies had been called to the home before for domestic disturbances, but details on those incidents weren't immediately released. Information on the couple also wasn't immediately released.
