The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested a Saline man for setting fire to his relatives’ RV, leaving two people injured.

Jeremie Dewayne Aldy, 43, was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on three counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Arson.

He was booked in connection with a January 10 fire that happened in the Country Haven Trailer Park.

Natchitoches Fire District #2 was called to the Saline trailer park at about 3 p.m. Firefighters found the RV’s three occupants outside; a woman had serious burns, a man had cuts from trying to rescue the woman. A second woman wasn't injured. The two injured victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment and the SFM was contacted to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

Following an assessment of the scene, and collecting witness statements, SFM deputies determined the fire originated on the exterior of the mobile home and was intentionally set. Aldy, who lived in a neighboring camper, was identified as a suspect in the case.

Witness statements reported that Aldy was seen pouring a liquid on the camper’s porch and then lighting the liquid on fire.

In an interview with deputies, Aldy allegedly confessed to setting the fire. He was then placed under arrest in connection with the case.
