Republic Services says they will be suspending trash collection on Thursday, Aug. 27 due to Hurricane Laura.

The company says it will determine on Thursday morning whether service can be safely resumed on Friday, August 28.

Republic Services reminds area residents and businesses to properly secure waste and recycling containers before the storm. Recommended tips:

  • Move waste and recycling containers, and any bagged waste, bulk items, and yard waste, from the curbside out of streets, parking lots and right-of-way areas so they don't become a hazard during high winds, heavy rain or severe flooding.
  • Secure containers, bagged, and bulky items in a garage, under a carport or behind your residence, whenever possible, until after the storm. If containers cannot be moved to a safe area, secure them to a fence, tree or other heavy object.
  • Close container lids to prevent rain from filling the container or wind from scattering debris.
  • Commercial customers with containers in corrals should latch and secure corral doors, and remember locks if you normally use them, to prevent any potential hazards.

Updates will be provided as conditions change moving forward.
