A pregnant New Orleans woman and her unborn baby were killed Thursday afternoon in a crash that police say may have involved road rage.
According to Nola.com, 22-year-old Jade Lewis was heading eastbound on West Esplanade Avenue in Kenner when her vehicle swerved off the road and crashed into a utility pole. The crash occurred around 12:30, according to police.
A second female motorist who was traveling eastbound on Esplanade as well was taken to the hospital after her vehicle also crashed into a pole about a half-block away from the first crash. Police did not release her identity, but say criminal charges are possible.
Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She was 38 weeks pregnant; her baby could not be saved.
Police are still investigating the crash, but say they suspect road rage played a factor.
