The Cameron Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness has shared estimates for when power should be restored to substations damaged by Hurricane Laura.

The OEP says that the target dates for power restoration could change as there are many variables at play.

The following locations are expected to have power by these dates:

  • Manchester Substation Transmission is expected on October 5
  • Hackett Substation is expected to have mobile generation on October 25
  • Johnson Bayou Substation is expected to have mobile generation on October 9
  • Fulton is approximately a month away from being able to take power.

Power officials say that there have been several limitations to procure the materials and equipment needed to rebuild powerlines and substations. Those include the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricane Sally, and Tropical Storm Beta.

"We want you to know that our crews are working long hours every day with no time off, and they are away from their families," said Addie Armato with ALEC." We are doing everything in our power to get your electricity back on as safely and quickly as possible. We thank you for all the kindness and support you have showed our crews near and far!"
