Big Freedia, the Queen of Bounce, celebrated author and artist, will be hosting the New Orleans part of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve.

Freedia, who has collaborated with such artists as Beyonce and Drake, has also starred in her own reality tv program, created a Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor and, back when we were doing things, hosted the livestream of the Met Gala for Vogue Magazine.

On Thursday, she will be introduced to a larger, mainstream audience when she hosts the New Orleans segments of the New Year's program that has been presented on ABC since 1972. Other performers scheduled to appear include Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Nelly, Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat and Machine Gun Kelly. Dick Clark began the program, but Ryan Seacrest hosts it now.

Freedia announced the gig on her social media this morning.

"Y’all get prepared as I host to bring In New Year representing for my city and the culture @newyearsrockineve along with @pjmorton and many more," she wrote on Facebook. "Watch how this countdown Go down ya heard me."

She adds that she is "grateful for the opportunity."
