Electricity is out to nearly 60% of customers in Iberia Parish on Friday after the city weather several hours of winds gusting over 80 mph from Hurricane Delta.
For nearly the entire evening, New Iberia encountered tropical storm force conditions. As the sun went down, winds gusted up to 86 mph. Damage was reported through Iberia Parish.
Video captured by Zac Milton showed power transformers that blew during the height of the storm.
Parish President M. Larry Richard issued a curfew for all of Iberia Parish in effect Friday night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and again from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday night.
