Although temporarily closed due to COVID-19, The USS KIDD Veterans Museum is offering a new way to experience a piece of military history.

Visitors can now take a virtual 3D tour of the forward section of the USS KIDD via the museum's website.

"Guided" photographic tours with textual details and the new 3D experience are both offered on the site.

The museum says the new 3D tour is a way for teachers, schoolchildren, history buffs, and World War II enthusiasts to visit the USS KIDD from home.

According to the museum, scans were created several weeks ago with the help of Air Data Solutions.

To access the tours, go to www.usskidd.com, and click on either “Virtual ‘guided’ tour” or “Explore in 3D.”

The USS KIDD Veterans Museum is temporarily closed to the public in alignment with Governor Edwards’ guidelines.

The Museum is requesting that online visitors consider making a contribution to help keep USS KIDD afloat during the closure.
