A Cut Off man was arrested in Abbeville on Thursday after police say he stranded a woman and her infant child on US 90 in Lafourche Parish.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Dillon Terrebonne was arrested by the Abbeville Police Department and booked on charges of domestic abuse with child endangerment and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 4:15 pm on February 25.

In that incident, Terrebonne is accused of stranding a woman and her infant along U.S. Hwy 90 in Raceland.

Deputies say that Terrebonne was driving the woman's SUV when the two began to argue. They say that at one point, Terrebonne stopped, exited the vehicle, walked over to the passenger side and allegedly struck and strangled the woman.

She was able to free herself and exit the vehicle, at which time deputies say Terrebonne entered the vehicle and drove away.

They say Terrebonne stopped again and removed an infant carrier car seat from the vehicle and placed it on the side of the road before continuing westbound on Hwy 90.

The woman rushed to the infant and secured it safely.

The Sheriff's Office says a passing motorist stopped to assist the woman and contacted deputies.

The woman and her child were then transported to a safe location.

On Thursday night, Abbeville Police located Terrebonne driving the vehicle, and he was taken into custody.

He is being held in Vermillion Parish awaiting transport to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex where he will be booked on charges including Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation and Child Endangerment and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

Total bail has not yet been set.

The investigation into this incident is continuing, and additional charges are possible.
