LWC: Initial unemployment insurance claims rise for week ending November 20

LWC provides guidance to furloughed federal employees in Louisiana

The Louisiana Workforce Commission says that initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending November 20, 2021 rose to 2,001 from the week ending November 13, 2021.

That's an increase of 319 initial claims from the previous week's total of 1,682.

For a comparison, LWC says that during the week ending November 21, 2020, 10,045 initial claims were filed.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,168 from the previous week’s average of 2,194. The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending November 20, 2021 decreased to 20,293 from the week ending November 13, 2021 total of 21,926. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 83,338 for the week ending November 21, 2020, according to LWC.

The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 22,809 from the previous week’s average of 24,315, they said.
