The Louisiana Workforce Commission says that initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending June 27, 2020 rose to 21,976.
This is an increase of 2,452 claims from the previous week ending June 20, 2020.
For a comparison, LWC says that during the week ending June 29, 2019, 2,206 initial claims were filed. The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 21,625 from the previous week’s average of 20,965. The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending June 27, 2020 increased to 306,089 from the week ending June 20, 2020 total of 300,389. The continued claims were above the comparable figure of 17,617 for the week ending June 29, 2019.
The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 304,480 from the previous week’s average of 303,357, according to LWC.
In person and online tools are available through the Louisiana Workforce Commission to help claimants file and process their claims.
In addition, the agency says resources can be found at their 62 local offices statewide. Those resources include job fair opportunities, training programs, apprenticeship opportunities and numerous other LWC services.
