LSU fans are coming together to raise thousands of dollars for the children and family of a couple killed last week while traveling home from the LSU vs. GSU football game.

As of Saturday around 11:45 a.m., fans have raised more than $38,000 in a GoFundMe fundraiser titled "Gift from LSU fans to GSU Hagan children/family."

Last week, Danny and Julie Hagan were killed while they were driving home from Baton Rouge after the LSU game.

The Advocate reports that the couple's car began to hydroplane because of rain on the road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

Danny Hagan, 45, died on the scene. His wife, Julie, 43, died in a hospital.

The couple were both GSU alums and leave behind three children who also attend Georgia Southern.

The GoFundMe's description reads:

Donation to the children and family of a tragic car accident after the LSU GSU game. Two Georgia Southern fans, Danny and Julie Hagan, lost their lives while traveling home. They were both alums and have 3 children that currently attend GSU. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the entire GSU community. We've established contact with a close friend of the family who will assist with delivery of funds when the time comes.
