12-year-old girl taken from Ochsner found safe, grandmother arrested

UPDATE: Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto confirms that 66-year-old Evelyn Miller has been arrested on charges relating to the kidnapping of her granddaughter Friday from Ochsner Hospital.

Just before 5 o'clock on Saturday evening, Miller was arrested by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office at a hotel in Bogalusa. Andreana Miller was found unharmed by deputies during the arrest.

Deputies say Miller pointed a gun at a security officer and other staff while demanding her granddaughter be released, according to The New Orleans Advocate.

Miller pushed a nurse to the ground and also struck a security guard with her vehicle while escaping with the 12-year-old.

An arrest warrant was issued for Miller for simple kidnapping, five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, two counts of simple battery, and violation of a firearm-free zone, Deputies added. Miller will be extradited to Jefferson Parish.

ORIGINAL STORY: Louisiana State Police have issued a Level II Child Endangerment Alert and are asking for the public's help in locating a 12-year-old girl who was abducted at gunpoint from a hospital in Jefferson Parish.

Andreana Miller, a white female, was taken at gunpoint from 1516 Jefferson Highway at Ocshner Hospital in Jefferson Parish at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 14. She was last seen leaving the hospital wearing a white Ocshner hospital gown.

Andreana is approximately 4'7" and 135 lbs.

Police say Andreana was abducted at gunpoint by her grandmother, identified as 66-year-old Evelyn Miller. She was last seen wearing a purple shirt and black pants. It is believed Evelyn was carrying a revolver style pistol.

JPSO has recovered the vehicle used in the initial abduction. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either Andreana Miller or Evelyn Miller is asked to contact the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office at 504-227-1400.
