On Thursday night, several Louisiana landmarks turned blue to honor those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

They joined other landmarks across the country that have paid tribute to front line workers by lighting up blue.

The Superdome, Tiger Stadium and the Governor's Mansion were just a few of the places taking part.

Governor John Bel Edwards shared a photo of the Governor's Mansion in Baton Rouge and thanked all health care professionals, first responders and essential workers who are working during the COVID-19 outbreak.

"We are forever indebted to these men and women for their steadfast commitment and heroic actions in the fight against COVID-19," his post reads.

Not far from the Governor's Mansion, LSU's Tiger Stadium also donned a blue hue to give thanks "for the men and women who are working around the clock."

The Superdome went blue again after showing their support for health care workers last week. Orleans Parish has seen the largest number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the state.

On Thursday, April 9, the parish was reporting 5,242 cases with 224 deaths.

In Acadiana, residents are encouraged to "Share the Light" for healthcare workers.

Starting at 7:30 pm on Friday, April 10, everyone is asked to place a light in their driveways to show appreciation for those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
