Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred on Aug. 13 in Cameron Parish.

Agents recovered the body of Ross K. Broussard, 19, of Hackberry, on the night of Aug. 13, according to a release from LDWF.

Broussard and another occupant in a 22-foot vessel were traveling in the Calcasieu Ship Channel in the northernmost cut from Joe’s Cove when the boat struck the rock jetties ejecting both men onto the rock jetties around 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 13. The other occupant did not sustain any injuries and was able to call for help.

LDWF agents will be the lead investigative agency for this boating crash incident. Broussard’s body was turned over to the Cameron Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
