Officials with the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness are reminding residents to not fall for posts from unknown sources circulating online.
A photo has been shared on Facebook and other social media platforms, seemingly warning citizens of the imminent mobilization of the National Guard.
The post could be real at first glance, because the National Guard's logo is on the photo, but state officials are emphasizing that the photo is not true.
"This fake message & similar messages have been circulating around the country for the past several weeks. Please make sure you are getting your info from legitimate sources. The FEMA/DHS activation of the National Guard post is false," a Tweet from the GOHSEP reads.
The National Guard has been mobilized in certain states, including Louisiana, only to assist with testing/screening sites.
