Someone's fireworks destroyed a widow's vehicle and badly damaged her home on New Year's Eve in New Orleans.

Our media partners at The Advocate/Times Picayune report that the fireworks turned a truck into a fireball that badly damaged the home of LaVerne Pinkney. Everyone was able to get out of the home alive because a neighbor pounded on the door, but a pregnant relative suffered smoke inhalation.

On Saturday, neighbors and other people who just wanted to help started showing up at Pinkney's house. She's recovering from surgery and had no insurance on the house, the papers report.
