UPDATE: The fire was under control as of 7:17 p.m., WBRZ reports. Fire officials say firefighters remain on scene to monitor hotspots to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal Deputies are currently on the scene of a fire at a maintenance shop on the grounds of Angola.

WBRZ reports that the fire was first reported shortly after 5:30 Friday evening. Crews have not been able to say which parts of the shop are affected. A DOC spokesman said the shop houses plumbing and electrical, pest control, and carpentry departments.

He added that no inmates or staff had to be moved from their normal locations.

OFM Deputies are now on scene to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
