East Baton Rouge Parish will increase mosquito spraying Friday night and through the rest of the weekend after mosquitoes in the parish tested positive for West Nile Virus, according to the Advocate.

13 mosquitoes collected from a trap near I-12 in July tested positive for the disease, according to the parish's Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control Interim Director Randy Vaeth.

Vaeth is urging residents to take precautions to prevent bites, like wearing mosquito repellant and restricting time outdoors when mosquitoes are most active, which is during the early morning and late evening.
