CVS Health announced Thursday that 28 additional COVID-19 drive-thru testing sites will open at CVS Pharmacy locations across Louisiana.
These sites, which will open on Friday, September 18, are in addition to the 23 drive-thru locations already open in the state.
The company says that across the country 2,000 new COVID-19 drive-thru sites would be opened to boost access to testing and to help slow the virus's spread.
The tests administered at CVS Pharmacy locations are free of charge and are available for people age 12 and over who meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria.
Patients must register in advance at CVS.com in order to schedule an appointment. Online registration for children ages 12-15 must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. They must also accompany the child for testing.
Tests will be self-swab and results available in 2 to 3 days, the company says.
More than 4,000 CVS Pharamacy sites are expected to provide virus testing by mid-October.
