As of 8 p.m. today, Cleco has restored power to nearly 33,000 of the roughly 43,000 customers who lost power after a second winter storm hit Cleco’s service territory within the same week.

“We’re making progress,” said James Lass, director of distribution and emergency management. “Our crews are patrolling lines and making repairs as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to our remaining customers.”

Cleco’s damage assessments indicate that power outages from the second winter storm were primarily due to the accumulation of ice.

“So far, our crews have found 187 trees on power lines throughout our service territory. They also found broken poles, damaged transformers, broken cross arms and downed power lines,” said Lass.

Cleco provided estimated times for restoration (ETR) during its noon update and will continue to share ETRs as they become available on its website and Facebook page.
