Cleco restores power to 96 percent of customers

As of 4 a.m., on Wednesday, September 9, Cleco says that crews have restored power to 96 percent of the 140,000 customers affected by Hurricane Laura.

"Power has been restored to nearly all customers in Grant, Rapides and Vernon parishes, which were among the hardest hit," said James Lass, director of distribution operations and emergency. "Crews will continue working in all the affected areas today."

More than 5,000 customers in Louisiana remain without power.

  • Calcasieu - 2,151, 15%
  • Grant - 480, 94%
  • Jefferson Davis - 5, 88%
  • Natchitoches - 39, 94%
  • Rapides - 820, 98%
  • Vernon - 385, 93%
