The Brookshire Grocery Company says that it will extend its hourly appreciation pay for workers continuing to serve customers during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The appreciation pay has been extended until November 6, according to the company.

14,000 retail and logistics employee-partners will continue to receive the pay increase of $1 an hour extra which began on March 24.

"Our employee-partners' service through this pandemic has been and continues to be heroic and inspiring," said Trent Brookshire, Chief Operating Officer for Brookshire Grocery Co. "As other companies pull back on compensation for their workers, we are continuing to invest in our greatest assets - our partners. I am so proud to be able to give this Appreciation Pay as a tangible offering of our sincere gratitude for everything they are doing. I am so honored to be part of such an incredible team who upholds such high standards for service and safety."

The company says that the pay is in addition to more than $21 million invested in its employee-partners through bonus checks, retail incentives, extra employee discounts, on-site meals and compensation plans for those directly affected by COVID-19.

Brookshire Grocery Co operates more than 180 stores under the Brookshire's, Super 1 Foods, FRESH by Brookshire's and Spring Market banners.
