UPDATE: LSU Lakes attack believed racially motivated

UPDATE: Southern University officials say the woman attacked while walking at the LSU Lakes Monday is a student athlete at the school, and that the incident was racially motivated.

Police say the man punched a woman in the chest and verbally assaulted her. Baton Rouge confirm that the alleged verbal assault included the use of the n-word.

Roman Banks, Southern's athletic director, tweeted a statement indicating that the university is focused upon the safety and well-being of its students.

Baton Rouge Police are looking for the man pictured below; he's accused of attacking a woman who was walking around the LSU Lakes.

The incident happened on Monday, November 9 at about 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of Dalrymple Drive. The female victim was punched in the chest and verbally assaulted, police say.

The suspect quickly ran away after the incident, police say.
