An employee of Louisiana State Penitentiary has been arrested after a shakedown uncovered an alleged inappropriate relationship between the officer and an inmate.

The Department of Corrections says that a shakedown at the prison turned up a contraband cellphone on an inmate, which helped corrections investigators uncover an inappropriate relationship between a corrections officer and an inmate.

On Thursday August 8, investigators questioned 27-year-old Eboyne Rowan of St. Francisville about the inappropriate relationship. Officials say Rowan admitted to the crime.

Rowan was booked in the West Feliciana Parish jail on one count of Malfeasance in Office. Rowan had been employed at Louisiana State Penitentiary since November 19, 2014. She held the rank of Master Sergeant.

Rowan resigned during Thursday's investigation.
