Albertsons Companies says that its pharmacies will provide COVID-19 vaccines to communities once one is authorized or approved for use in the United States.

The offering is through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which announced Thursday, November 12, that pharmacy chains across the U.S. would be given access to COVID-19 vaccines to administer to Americans.

Those vaccines, the company says, will be administered at no cost to recipients.

"Throughout this pandemic, our pharmacy teams have been on the front lines, offering care and health solutions for our communities," said Wayne Denningham, Division President. "When a vaccine is ready, our pharmacists will play a critical role in administering this important public health service."

Albertsons says that its pharmacies will work with the CDC to streamline and optimize the delivery of the vaccine by working closely to coordinate, track, and monitor distribution.

Once a COVID-19 vaccine is available, Albertsons says that recipients will be able to find contactless consent forms for the vaccine in the Albertsons pharmacy app or at their in-store pharmacy locations.
