A Denham Springs man has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to his sister’s trailer.

39-year-old Hershel Kysar Jr. was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on Sunday, June 9, on one count each of Simple Arson and Obstructing a Firefighter.

In the late evening hours of June 8, Livingston Fire District #4 responded to a trailer fire located in the 21000 block of Vincent Acres Circle. State Fire Marshal deputies were called to investigate the origin and cause of the fire and determined it was intentionally set.

Investigators say that when firefighters arrived on the scene, Kysar attempted to prevent at least one first responder from extinguishing the fire, telling them to “let it burn.” While still on the scene, Kysar allegedly later told SFM deputies that he set the trailer on fire while he was burning a trash pile near the structure because he wanted to get rid of it.

Kysar was then placed under arrest.
