The State Fire Marshal’s Office says they are assisting Baton Rouge Fire officials this morning to determine the cause of a fire that left a 3-year-old dead.
Officials say the fire call came in at 9:15 pm to a home located in the 2000 block of Kentucky Street in Baton Rouge.
The fire at the duplex style home sent the toddler and her father to the hospital Wednesday night. The 3-year-old later died at the hospital, according to officials.
According to WBRZ, the Baton Rouge Fire Department believes the fire began at the rear of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Officials will release more information when it becomes available.
