Fire Marshal’s deputies are working to remove large debris piles blocking exits for seven students in ADA dorms on the Louisiana Tech campus.

The debris is being removed from stair and ramp exits of the dorm buildings. Officials have confirmed that an EF3 tornado tore through the Ruston area overnight.

Around two dozen SFM deputies and personnel are on the scene in and around Ruston to assist with damage cleanup and assessments.

Deputies say they surveyed the Louisiana Tech campus to make sure that no one was trapped or injured and determine whether buildings are safe and connected to power.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office shared a post with debris removal on the campus.
