A Boyce man was arrested following a complaint of child neglect in Rapides Parish.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Jansen Brock Smith was arrested and booked on several charges including criminal neglect and cruelty of a juvenile following an investigation into a complaint made on March 12.
Deputies say the complainant accused Smith of leaving his young children unattended for days on end. They also say the children were living in deplorable conditions.
During the course of the investigation, sheriff’s deputies and the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services uncovered evidence that supported the initial complainant’s accusations against Smith.
Smith was located and questioned by deputies in reference to the allegations and the deplorable condition of the residence.
Smith was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
- Criminal Neglect of Family
- Cruelty of a Juvenile,
- Resisting an Officer
- Disturbing the Peace.
Smith released on a $4,000.00 bond.
Deputies say the children have been placed into another home by D.C.F.S. officials.
